As we begin 2026, our Foster Spotlight shines on Jeannie Enders.
Jeannie first learned about K9 Konnection after coming across a loose dog she was unable to catch. She reached out to a friend, who contacted trappers that frequently work alongside K9 Konnection. Curious to learn more, Jeannie researched the rescue, liked what she discovered, and decided she wanted to help. In early 2025, she reached out to us, expressing her interest in becoming a medical foster.
On March 11, Jeannie welcomed her very first foster, Walker. Walker required extensive hip surgery and long-term rehabilitation — a commitment Jeannie embraced wholeheartedly. She lovingly cared for Walker through what ultimately became two surgeries, guiding him through both physical recovery and emotional growth. During his time with Jeannie, Walker learned how to live in a home and coexist peacefully with other dogs, thanks in part to Jeannie’s own sweet pups, Reese and Ruby. In late May, Walker left Jeannie’s care and headed off to his forever home.
Jeannie’s next two fosters, Buddy and Cubby, were medical cases of a different kind. Both dogs were severely overweight.
Through patience, structure, proper diet, and exercise, Jeannie helped each of them transform into healthier, happier versions of themselves. Today, both Buddy and Cubby are thriving.
While Cubby was still in her care, Jeannie opened her home once again to Blaze, a K9 dog in need of help with house manners. Though not a medical foster, Blaze presented his own set of challenges, ones Jeannie met with the same dedication and compassion.
Currently, Jeannie is fostering two extremely shy dogs, both considered “project dogs” due to the time and effort required to build their confidence. Never one to shy away from the tougher cases, Jeannie’s commitment and consistency are paying off, as she has already made remarkable progress with both dogs.
And in her “spare” time, Jeannie continues to give back by helping at K9 Konnection events, most recently contributing to the highly successful Light Parade Party.
Jeannie, thank you for everything you do. You truly have a helper’s heart, and we are deeply grateful for your unwavering dedication to K9 Konnection and the dogs we serve.
