About K9 Konnection Rescue
K9 Konnection is a local, no-kill 501(c)(3) dedicated to rescuing, reuniting, and re-homing dogs in the Wickenburg area. We pair heart with know-how… providing medical care, behavioral support, and thoughtful placements so matches last. When families hit hard times, we also help keep pets at home through our Health And Wellness Program
K9 Konnection History
K9 Konnection is a 501(C)(3) “No Kill” dog shelter and rescue started by founder Shirley Peters to prevent lost, stray and abandoned dogs from being sheltered in the county which was over 60 miles away. Story after story was reported how Wickenburg residents lost their dog by accident, only to sometimes learn their pet was taken to the county shelter. In many cases, owners were unable to retrieve their pets due to distance or time requirement by the shelter.
Frustrated and saddened, Shirley took action and incorporated K9 Konnection in September 2013, to help keep lost and stray dogs in the area, so they could be returned to their families. Within three years, Shirley successfully raised enough money to open the doors of K9 Konnection. In July 2016, she started accepting stray, lost and abandoned dogs from the Town of Wickenburg.
