2 Week Trial – Try It Out. See If It’s a Fit

Try It Out—See If It’s a Fit: Our 2-Week Trial Foster (Foster-to-Adopt)

We love love stories. We also love happy endings that actually last. That’s why K9 Konnection offers an optional, low-stress two-week trial foster so you and your future best friend can test real life together—no pressure, no guilt.

What Is the 2-Week Trial (in plain English)?

Think of it as a “first date, but with naps.” You bring a dog home for up to 14 days, follow a simple plan, and see how life fits—kids, schedules, roommates, cats, the Roomba. We check in, you ask questions, and everyone breathes.

Friendly promise: If it’s a match, we celebrate and finalize the adoption. If it isn’t, that’s okay—the trial helps us find the right home, and we’ll keep matchmaking with you.

K9 Konnection Health & Wellness

How It Works

  1. Meet & greet: We talk lifestyle, other pets, and goals; you meet a great candidate.
  2. Quick paperwork: Short foster-to-adopt agreement covers the basics and support.
  3. Take-home: Bring your guest of honor home for up to 14 days.
  4. Check-ins: We touch base (usually around Day 3 and Day 10) with tips and tweaks.
  5. Decision time: Match? We finalize. Not a match? No shame—back to matchmaking.

Why It Helps (for dogs and humans)

  • Real life > meet & greet: Couch manners, kid vibes, and cat opinions don’t show up in 10 minutes.
  • Lower stress: Decompression first; training sticks better when everyone can exhale.
  • Fewer returns: A little runway now = happily-ever-after later.

What K9 Konnection Provides

  • Guidance & support: decompression plan, training tips, and friendly check-ins.
  • Medical status & records (what’s done, what’s scheduled).
  • Starter supplies when available (tags/collar basics). Bring your preferred food/bed if you like.

What You Provide

  • Safe routine: predictable meals, potty schedule, secure doors/yard.
  • Patience: expect naps, nerves, and tiny hiccups—totally normal.
  • Updates: photos, questions, honest feedback so we can help.

Your 14-Day Timeline (cheat sheet)

  • Days 1–3: Decompress. Keep it boring and predictable. Short sniffy walks, no dog parks, no big parties.
  • Days 4–10: Find the rhythm. Practice basics (sit, name game, trade), short wins with resident pets (gates/parallel walks), daily enrichment.
  • Days 11–14: Check-in & choose. What’s working? Any sticky spots? We’ll coach the last mile so your decision is easy.

House Rules for Success (for now)

  • No off-leash or dog parks yet. Sniffy walks & calm hangs only.
  • Slow introductions with resident pets—think short & sweet, not “family reunion.”
  • Leash on before doors open. Many newbies are flight risks the first week.
  • Stick to one food (or change slowly) to avoid tummy drama.

Red Flags? Call Us Early.

  • Escalating scuffles or guarding with resident pets
  • Panic when separated that isn’t improving with tiny, rewarded absences
  • Persistent vomiting/diarrhea, lethargy, or pain—vet check may be needed
