April’s Foster Family Spotlight shines on Jill and Mark Smith!
Jill and Mark began fostering dogs in 2018 and officially joined K9 Konnection in 2023. Their last foster, Oreo, is their 56th dog, an incredible milestone and a true testament to their dedication.
Medical dogs are their specialty, thanks to Jill’s background as a retired nurse, but they’ve also embraced the challenge of shy and under socialized dogs. These cases can be difficult, yet Jill and Mark approach each one with patience, structure, and compassion, helping fearful dogs gain confidence and thrive.
Supporting their foster work are their two loyal dogs, Abby and Georgia. Georgia’s journey is especially special once a stray living in the desert, Jill helped humanely trap her while she was pregnant. After safely delivering her puppies in a whelping foster home and seeing them adopted, Georgia returned to Jill and Mark as a foster herself. It didn’t take long for them to realize she was home for good, and they officially adopted her in 2024.
